Dear Baby,
Today, at exactly 8:44 am, I felt you moving in my tummy. I wasn’t sure if it was you or not, so I sat real still, mentally willing you to do it again…and you did! It’s the strangest thing. It feels like you’re poking out your little foot…just tap tap tapping away from the inside. I went and told your Daddy…who is excited for the day he can feel you moving. Once I felt it the first time you stopped for a few hours…but you’ve been right back at it this afternoon and this evening. Everytime I feel you poking around in there I’m amazed. It feels like I have a happy little secret that no one else knows about going on in my belly. I was sitting at my desk, in the sweltering heat (it’s been 95+ degrees), and I felt you moving around…just makes me smile everytime. I’ll probably be the goofy pregnant lady that can’t quit smiling for the next 21 weeks!
We went to the doctor today, too. He said your heartbeat and everything sound perfect. I couldn’t agree more! He also said that I’m “genetically pre-disposed to have a big baby” and that he’s expecting you to be “around 9 pounds”. I didn’t tell him, but I’m hoping you’ll be around a nice delivery amount of 6-7 pounds. Doesn’t sound like that’s likely though. Oh well, I sorta thought you’d be a big baby since I was…that’s why I’ve avoided buying you any preemie clothes! The other thing I found out today is that you’re already going to start costing us money. Do you know what the doctor charges to deliver you, child? $3300. Just for the doctor…and I think he’s only in there for all of 15 minutes when it’s actually showtime. Luckily our insurance will pay for 80% of it. That brings our amount to $760…payable starting next month. I want you to know, as soon as your Daddy finds out about this he’s going to expect you to get a job. We’ll probably have to start running you an I Owe Mom and Dad tab.
We go back for the ultrasound on the 15th. That’s thirteen whole days from now. At least it’s while your Daddy is on vacation so he’ll for sure be able to come. They told me I have to drink (and hold) 32 ounces of water one hour before my appointment…so if you could lay off the bladder that day that’d be great! We’re looking forward to finding out your gender, and seeing your first ever photo. Until then, keep kicking away! It brings a smile to my face and helps confirm that things are going good in there.
Love,
Mommy
